Lemongrass Restaurant & Bar

A convenient first night option for us as we checked in late. Seated a half hour before closing but did not feel rushed...the beauty of Island Time...The shrimp starter hit the spot...have to have the tasty seafood soup reheated for warmer temp we prefer...the snapper on rice pilaf was hearty, with yummy fried plaintain bananas as a great accent! Server Roserie was most pleasant and helpful.

Everyone seems to complain about the service here. What are you expecting? Relax!! Yes the service is REALLY slow--but we're on "island time," nothing is fast here. And in the meantime, you're sitting outside at a comfortable table with an amazing view of pelicans dive-bombing into the ocean between the docked boats, and a gorgeous sunset... the reception desk has plenty of bug repellent so you're not getting eaten alive... and we had several absolutely delicious fish dishes here. Plus, best deal on the entire island--you can order a side of vegetables (I got broccolini one night, steamed asparagus another night) for $5!!! The wine selection is small but very nice, the ambiance is peaceful and friendly, and afterwards you can wander over to the pool and hot tub which are open till 10 pm and enjoy a post-dinner swim/soak. Seriously, if you are complaining about Lemongrass Bar and Grill, you need to check yourself and appreciate what a privilege it is to spend an evening at this luxurious, beautiful St. John resort (without necessarily spending the big bucks to stay overnight). It is truly the good life, and we are grateful we got to spend several evenings here getting pampered in contrast to our itchy hot 2-person tent at the national park campground down the road. This was amazing from start to finish. The appetizer alone will bring us back. The wine selection was incredible, and the entrees put this restaurant up with all the high end restaurants on the island. We will definitely eat here every time we’re here!

We came here for breakfast every day during our trip to St. John. The view is absolutely beautiful, and the pancakes were delicious. Weekdays were definitely the best time to visit. On the weekends, they switch to a buffet-only option, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the quality of the weekday menu. The buffet wasn’t worth the price, and the service also wasn’t as attentive as it was during the week. Still, a great spot overall just aim for a weekday visit if you can!

Nice spot to sit in the evening for drinks and dinner. Luckily we were under cover when heavy rain hit! The red snapper, tagliatelle with beef short rib and octopus were all great. Very tasty Key lime pie to finish.
